Wacky items on EBay: Scientology edition

March 3rd, 2008 by admin

I just love running across wacky items on Ebay. This humorous prototype of the Scientology e-meter is currently selling for $43.

______________________________

Item Specifics:

Item Condition: New
Item Type: e-meter
Type: Mark 9000
Year: 2257
Subject: Education

After intensely studying the works of Volney Mathison, inventor of the e-meter, and L. Ron Hubbard, who ripped off Mathison to make his own similar meter, I've reached into the future and hacked, ripped off, and refined the e-meters of the past with this Mark 9000 e-meter! The improvements you'll notice right away. And this is handcrafted! And I don't even want to tell you how long it took to make!

On the front you will see that it is a simplified reading from either Mathison's or Scientology's. If there is an engram or a thetan, the meter will show that, and the non-functioning lights will wish they could blink appropriately. Note also that the dial on the lower left goes up to 11! Show me anybody else's meter that goes to 11!

On the inside you will see the technology I have discovered. What better way to detect thetans but with thetans! The green porcine thetan looks for nonhuman entities, and the cute girl/clock thetan looks for human entities. I've used high-tensile ultra-clear tape to ensure that this product is as good as it gets! And the string has a tensile strength of 20 pounds!

One of the cans is a real Campbell's name-brand can, while the other is an off-brand. I did this to create an oscillating tone between the cans that helps wake up the thetans as you hold the cans.

This is the one-of-a-kind prototype, so no warranty is included. But if you have any thetans after 90 days of use, I'll gladly give a refund provided the thetans sign a statement saying "I'm still here, jackass."

[note: I may have to remove the battery for shipping]

If you find this amusing, you might want to check out the questions from buyers, and answers from the seller. They're all just making fun of Scientology, and many are quite humorous if you have a basic understanding of Scientology beliefs (but to see most of them, you have to sign into your Ebay account- boo, hiss!)

Review Hairspray

March 3rd, 2008 by admin

Poster

Every now and again, a movie comes along that gets songs stuck in your head, your feet tapping, and an almost uncontrollable urge to burst out dancing to come over you. The 2007 remake of the hit 1988 movie-musical Hairspray is one of those movies. When my parents told me we were going to watch this movie tonight, I was not terribly excited. I thought "oh, it will be one of those corny movies with a terrible plot and boring actors." John Travolta dressed as a woman didn't exite me much either enliven my feelings for the movie. But boy was I wrong. Before the first song had even finished (Good Morning Baltimore ) I was hooked, and my feet were tapping the rest of the movie. Read the rest of this entry »

Ummm . . . do I need to be delivered?

March 3rd, 2008 by admin

Someone pray for me right now. I know I like classic rock, but ummm . . . I hate disco! And Fros, and bell bottoms, and friggin John Travolta. (bad mental images from Saturday Night Fever. Anyone remember him dancing through the doorway in only a Speedo thing? The only thing I've enjoyed him in is Battlefield Earth). At least I am bold and brash, as many of you know, though I don't think I've ever frequented a party ever. I feel so depressed now.

You Belong in 1978

Bold and brash, you take life by the horns. Whether you're partying or protesting, you give it your all!
On the knitting front, The Fetching modified are almost done. And the scarf is a quarter of the way done. Then on to work on my hat I've designed. Woooohoooo! Something to regain my positive outlook, let's try its Friday, its casual day, and its Payday!

John Travolta’s Hair Captivates Nation

February 27th, 2008 by admin

I thought it was just me, but apparently I wasn't the only one struck dumb by John Travolta's "hair" on Oscar night.

I mentioned the Popeil spray-on coif that Vinnie Barbarino sported on the red carpet and during his presentation of the Best Original Song Oscar.

It seems the entire world of web surfers are also still craving more of John's hair don't. I've had in one form or another, multitudes of visitors to this blog seeking to find the truth atop Travolta's scalp.

The closely-cropped coif was an odd, unnatural Just for Men sort of color and was altogether creepy in general.

It's like an X-Files mystery. Mulder and Scully could come out of retirement to seek the alien source of these "follicles."

Maybe it could be some new reality show. Call Mark Burnett, stat.

For a man who once teased teens with his lustrous black locks, this was about as disturbing as seeing him in his Battlefield Earth get-up.

Crazy.

Inside Look: Oscar 2008 (Vencedores)

February 27th, 2008 by admin

banner_oscar_3.jpg

AHUAHUAHUAHUA

Esse Oscar foi EXCELENTE!

Oscar 2008: l’ “incubo” della coppia Travolta-Preston

February 27th, 2008 by admin

Oscars: Wierd & Wierder

February 27th, 2008 by admin

moore.jpgjohn.jpgcourtney.jpgswinton.jpgOkay, so there were lots of ponytails, scarlet dresses and pregnant ladies on the red carpet. Oh, and George Clooney arrived with a girl for the first time, a 29-year-old Las Vegas cocktail waitress (please God tell me she’s working while putting herself through college…..).   Aside from that, there isn’t really much to post Oscar giddy gab.  In browsing through the night’s photos, though, there were some rather strange images to share.  First and foremost, Oscar winning actress Tilda Swinton.  There’s something infinitely likable about this gal. – the talent, the super coolness and individuality. However, we must say her super pale make-up-less pallor coupled with her red dyed comb-back ain’t workin’.  If Simon Cowell thought the recently eliminated Peter Frampton lookalike contestant looked like he’d been locked up in his room for months – can you imagine the field day he’d have had with Tilda?  Just the tiniest dab of Maybelline would have warmed this lithe creature to fantastic results.  Tilda, and your entourage, we’re beggin’ ya.

The second image that merits mention is this photo of Courtney Love.  Oh my God!  What has happened here?  Talk about doing a mid-life Jennifer Grey!  The rocker is barely recognizable.  At first glance, I originally thought it was possibly Madonna with a brow lift (has she already had one of those?).  Then, I veered off course. Was it possibly 80’s pop star Debby Gibson? Or, could it possibly be one of Hugh Hefner’s faux publicity-for-hire “girlfriends”?     It’s not that she looks bad, we should graciously point out, just radically different.  If this is what sober looks like, kudos to you girl.

Thirdly, what in the world is John Travolta doing with his hair?  I didn’t hear that he was in the new upcoming Star Trek movie.  Is he? It’s not just the hideous sideburns – but the hair looks…dare we say… spray painted on.  Yeech.  I also thought it was odd that the Oscar producers cut off  the woman half of the team who won for Best Song before she was able to utter a single word.  Moments later, they then had the audacity to bring out Travolta for a stupid joke about his airplane. Just plain rude and gross.    Time for him, but not for her.  That was the only brilliant moment of the telecast, if you ask me, when host Jon Stewart brought the woman back up on stage to let her have her moment in the sun.

And, lastly, we don’t mean to poke fun at someone who struggles with weight gain, but isn’t there something terribly ironic about an Oscar nominated director who makes documentary about the horrible state of the health care industry, who himself is so unhealthy?  In this photo, Moore looks like a walking time bomb.  Note to Michael: stop worrying about the world, and start worrying about – and more importantly doing something about – you.  Sicko, indeed!

2008 Oscars….Helmet Head Travolta

February 27th, 2008 by admin

The 2008 Oscars definitely had an "international" flare this year.  I was happy to see so many foreign actors & writers when Oscars this year.

Will someone please tell John Travolta to do something with his hair.  Can anyone not look at him and laugh your head off?  It looks like John's hair stylist uses "kiwi ultra black shoe polish" to color his hair.  I swear it looks like John is wearing a black helmet.

Jessica Alba looks extremely hot for being "preggers".  But does Jessica really need those "frilly" puff balls on the front of her dress to make her "ta's" look any bigger.  I'm not complaining.  But, how big do your "twins" need to be.

Favourite Oscars 2008 Fashion

February 27th, 2008 by admin

The red carpet season continues with the 80th Annual Acadamy Awards ceremony last night in Hollywood. Although the whole night was a civlised (if not slightly dull) affair, with no major surprises, hiccups or the like - there was still some hot (and not so hot) fashion on the red carpet to contemplate.

Some of my personal favourites this year included Nicole Kidman in a gorgeous black Balenciaga dress & Heidi Klum who wore a show stopping bespoke red gown made by John Galliano. I was also a big fan of Jennifer Hudsons dress this year, a full length white beaded number by Roberto Cavalli, which showed her voluptuous figure at its best.

My favourite by far, however, was actress Kelly Preston. She appeared on the red carpet with husband John Travolta, wearing a gorgeous strapless Roberto Cavalli gown in deep yellow. The simple cut paired with the bold but very this season colour really make a statement.

In contrast, my worst outfit of the evening was worn by best actress winner - Marion Cotillard. The Jean Paul Gaultier mermaid-inspired gown will be a huge hit with some, but for me it was just all a bit over the top.

If you have your own special event planned and need to find a dress to impress in plus sizes try Curvety.com, who offer affordable red carpet chic in sizes 16 to 36.
