www.StarSearchCasting.com Is The Industry’s Leading Website For Talent Resources

January 30th, 2008 by admin

Jonathan Parker - CEO, Star Search Casting, Inc.

Star Search Casting has been a leading casting website for 10 years, serving both casting and entertainment executives as well as singers, actors, dancers and models seeking opportunities in the industry. While Star Search Casting has developed a solid reputation for providing casting information for some of the industry's most popular television shows and feature films, the website is also a leader in providing the most comprehensive database of industry resources on the web. From agents and photographers, to production companies and dance schools, Star Search Casting provides all of the information an aspiring performer needs to get a head start in the industry.

Founded by Jonathan Parker, an experienced entertainment industry executive, Star Search Casting provides all of the essentials for getting started in the industry. "For many, pursuing a career in entertainment can be overwhelming because there's so much to learn," says Parker. "In addition to providing singers, dancers, actors and models with casting information, we also felt that it was important to give them access to everything from hair stylists to professional associations so that they have everything they need in one place to ensure a smooth transition into the industry."

For most, developing a career in the entertainment industry takes time. And aspiring performers interested in acting, modeling, singing and dancing will have to learn the ropes, and sometimes even get additional training, before they are ready for stardom. To help aspiring performers along the way, Star Search Casting guides them with critical information in their community forums, supplemented with comprehensive lists of contacts and resources organized for easy access.

"I wasn't introduced to modeling until I was in my early 20s, so when I decided that I wanted to pursue it as a profession, I felt like I had a lot of catching up to do," says Amy Reynolds, a Star Search Casting member. "However, at Star Search Casting I was not only able to find lots of modeling casting calls, but I was also able to get a list of photographers, agents, fashion stylists, makeup artists and even books which were all extremely helpful."

SSC is committed to ensuring that aspiring actors, dancers, models and singers have all of the tools they need to become successful in the entertainment industry. Fashion plates

January 30th, 2008 by admin

OK, I know that nobody will believe it, but as a young consultant, I used to subscribe to GQ.  I wore double breasted Hugo Boss suits with Hermes ties and Bally shoes.  Now, my wardrobe consists mainly of hockey jerseys, hoodies, and Hawai'ian shirts with high tops.  I love tenure.

Anyway, I was reminiscing a bit when I saw this month's Men's Vogue.  Sho nuff, an article about The Wire.  Don't read the article because a) it doesn't have that much news but b) it does have spoilers.

However, there is a nice pictorial, with Mr. McNulty, Bubbles, and Omar.  Something about seeing Bubbles in a $1200 coat over a $3800 suit that is a bit unsettling.  Not as unsettling as seeing how damn good Omar looks.  He makes that purple scarf work, baby.

The Patry Francis Blog Event –THE LIAR’S DIARY

The Patry Francis Blog Event –THE LIAR’S DIARY

Last year I had the opportunity to meet Patry Francis (http://www.patryfrancis.com/) at the BackSpace event at the Algonquin in NYC.   Her first novel, THE LIAR’S DIARY, had hit stores in February 2007 and I snagged a copy to read back at my hotel.  Yowzah.  Talk about your compelling reads!  I’ve been a big fan of this book since its release, and in my writing classes I often said that Patry was “an author to watch”.

Then I heard that Patry was diagnosed with an aggressive form of cancer and that the fates seemed determined to silence this magnificent new literary voice.  The news sent shockwaves through the book world.  We were all shocked, all stunned, and every one of us felt impossibly helpless.  We’re writers...what the hell can we do?

Silly question.

A could of good-hearted folks, Susan Henderson and Laura Benedict  cooked up the idea of getting the blogging authors to step up and support Patry by helping to promote the paperback release of LIAR’S DIARY.  When my friend, Karen Dionne (of BackSpace) asked me if I’d like to help I jumped right in... and found that there were over 300 of us working to make that book a major hit.  It’ll help Patry financially, sure, but more importantly it’ll show her that there is love and support out there.  That kind of good will can move mountains and maybe it can apply some leverage to the healing process.

Here’s a link to the book-trailer: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jD31Ip3y3Gk

Here’s a link to an audio sample http://www.audiobookstand.com/clips/liarsdiary924.mp3

Go find the book on Amazon http://www.amazon.com/Liars-Diary-Patry-Francis/dp/0452289157/ref=reader_req_dp

Be a friend by telling a friend.

Join with folks all across the country who are standing together in this.  And...hey, it’s also a hell of a good book.

If you need an incentive, then the first ten people who send me proof that they’ve purchased the book from Amazon will receive signed copies of my next book, BAD MOON RISING before anyone else gets it.  As soon as I get my author copies I’ll sign ‘em and ship ‘em to the first folks who email me proof of purchase.  (And...hey, let’s write some reviews for her, too!)

The Presence of Crowe…

January 30th, 2008 by admin

ahhh ...sad news about Heath Ledger, again the Hollywood machine has swallowed another emerging talent. 28 years old. Ridiculously young. sometimes it strange how it feels like you're losing a friend - why do we feel we know these people? we dont...we dont know a damn thing about any of them. we know they struggle with fame and fortune and excess and ego and all the trappings of being a young celebrity - being a conduit for obscene amounts of attention and praise , for living without the word NO 99% of their adult lives. Could you handle it?..I think i could... seriously - I love to tell myself the righteous work I would be doing were I suddenly beaten with the fame stick - i just dont know ...but hEATH LEDGER gave a courageous performance in BBM - hats off to unknown territory in that role - I think one of Heath's greatest attributes was his voice - first time i saw him i think was in the Patriot and i remembered how grounded his voice was , it gave him presence a heaviness and weight on screen for such a young man- Russell Crowe has that quality. American film actors rarely work with voice - can you imagine Tom cruise as the Gladiator with his voice or Brad Pitt or Keanu Reeves or even George Clooney, and his voice isnt bad, but none of them carry the presence of Crowe. Heath we will miss you - it was a joy watching you work - I hope life gave as much as it took my friend.
